Inspirational books have the potential to affect ones’ life in several positive ways. The journey of life invariably brings us to the proverbial fork in the road. These are those places where we are stymied as to what to do. Should we say yes to the offer that seems so right at the time? Should we strike up a partnership with the person, if we do will it prosper, or will we fail miserably? Life brings us face to face with many such issues and many, many, more that I will not attempt to address at this time.

There are times when we cannot bring ourselves to discuss some of our most pressing issues with another person. At the time we think we have good reasons not to tell anyone of our foolish decisions and stupid mistakes. On occasions these decisions and mistakes have landed us into a place in life that feels like what hell has been described as uncomfortable and that is an understatement. So we avoid people and suffer in isolation and silence. We prefer that no one knows how gullible, stupid, naïve, or however we want to label our latest fiasco.

In such cases as mentioned above, inspirational books can become the answer. It can be the answer in several ways. One; it clearly shows that others have made the same mistakes we have. Two; we see that not only have others made the same mistakes we have but they survived it and lived to tell others how to overcome. Three; finally, and most importantly, we see that mistakes and failures can actually become stepping stones to some of our greatest victories.

Inspirational books can actually become much more than a “good story” of someone opening his heart to others, but can become a kind of road map to guide us out of our own dilemma. To see how others have overcome seemingly impossible situations may be the impetus we need to get up and try again.

Many times inspirational books make us realize that we are not the only one who has tried and did not come out on top the first time. It can be comforting to know that failure is not synonymous with weakness or lack of knowledge. Probably, most importantly we learn from analyzing other’s mistakes and failures that we are not odd or “something is wrong with us.” Inspirational books help us look outside of ourselves and see that others who faced their giants have won.

Reading inspirational books can open our eyes, and see how others navigated the sometimes seemingly impossible road of their life. With these kinds of glimpses into the lives of others we not only learn meaningful lessons, but we also learn the most valuable lesson of all, which is simply not to make their same mistake.

The deep wisdom of inspirational books bring to the forefront that we do not have to learn all of life’s lessons by making one mistake after another. There is a more simple way to maneuver life’s hills and valleys. It is this; do not wait until you make a mistake to gain wisdom. To save yourself many tears and heartaches read some inspirational books. You will learn in a more painless way to read about others’ mistakes and decide not do what they did.
